KEYNOTE SPEAKERSWILMA NEWHOUDT-DRUCHEN Wilma Newhoudt-Druchen is currently a member of the South African Parliament. She was recently awarded the Second Class International Social Merit award at the World Federation of the Deaf's (WFD) World Congress in Canada in recognition of her extraordinary dedication to the cause of deaf people and her contribution to the development of the WFD internationally. Ms. Newhoudt-Druchen is an activist for equality and language rights and has worked diligently to raise awareness of the issues facing the deaf community of South Africa . She serves on the National Executive Committee of the Deaf Federation of South Africa and is on its Management committee. Ms. Newhoudt-Druchen is deaf. ALEX NDEEZI Alex Ndeezi serves as Chairperson of the National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU) the national umbrella for all organizations of people with disabilities in Uganda . He is also a member of the Parliament of Uganda. Mr. Ndeezi is deaf and is a social worker by profession.
